I hear her voice so clearly in my head

When I am writing, I hear Rebecca’s voice so clearly that I would recognise her in a crowded room.

I mentioned this to a friend of mine, who subsequently spoke of this to his friend. His friend was a well recognised spiritualist, who immediately asked if I’d had a near-death experience.  He went on to say he was eager to speak to me.

Well, the thing is, I had a near death experience. I best explain, when I was a tender 16-year-old lad, I was in a house fire. The doctors suggested to my parents that it was unlikely I’d survive.

On my fourth day in the hospital, I slipped to the other side and spent nine minutes dead.  So, before you ask, I do know what it looks like on the other side.  However, that is another story, and when I am ready, I will write about it in full.  Incidentally, against all odds, I survived, obviously, and became a better human as a result.  Interestingly, with a wealth of unlocked talents, which included painting, and of course writing, although some may debate that, ha ha?

So, when I plucked up the courage, I spoke to the spiritualist about my experience, and also about Rebecca’s voice.  In no uncertain terms, he said that he believed I had picked Rebecca’s spirit up while on the other side.

Although I found this difficult to get my head around, it did answer a lot of unasked questions.  Being a guy, who is over fifty, many have asked how I manage to write from the perspective of a 15-year-old girl in such a tactile way.  Furthermore, it kind of gives me answer where the voice, which often wakes me in the middle of the night, actually comes from. It also explains how I went from being a ‘manly style’ Sci-Fi writer, which I didn’t really enjoy, into the author I am today.

Thanks for listening, Steve
